Acoustic or Electric?

The first question that I always get asked is which type of guitar is easiest for a beginner to learn on? The response that I always hear from people who like to act like they know a lot about guitars is something along the lines of.. "Oh man, you gotta learn on an acoustic if you really want to be good". But the truth is that any type of guitar is good to learn on as long as it stays in tune decently well and the strings aren't 6 inches off of the fretboard. Every fretboard has the same notes and close to the same amount of frets so whether it's powered by Ben Franklin or God, you are learning the exact same positions. I would say that an electric guitar is actually easier to learn on because the strings are much easier to push down. With that said I wouldn't worry too much about whether or not my guitar is acoustic or electric especially if you are a complete beginner. The important thing is that you've got a guitar and that makes you cooler than 86% of the population.
